Holy Huddle or Serving Community?

When Jesus commissioned his disciples, he wanted us to become people who fulfill the Great Commission: Matthew 28:18-20 and the Great Commandment: Matthew 22:36-40, to Love God and love people. This requires us to ENGAGE. Jesus was describing the action and aim of the Great Commandment in the context of the story of the Good Samaritan. (Luke 10:25-29) Through this story, Jesus illustrates the heart behind loving your neighbor as yourself. This kind of ENGAGEMENT is what makes us a missional church. Missional means “Go.” We are not to passively wait until people arrive through the doors of our church. We are to actively go to them and, through blessing them, look for opportunities to help them reconcile with God. Missional does not mean bringing them to church; it means being the church to them as you ENGAGE their needs.
